But I guess if you can’t beat them, join them. So I put on my winter cap, raided the craft closet, and devised a simple Christmas craft project for kids. This easy DIY Xmas tree will help you get a bit of a jump start on your Homemade Christmas decorations.
DIY Xmas Trees: Insanely Easy-To-Make Holiday Ornaments
Foam Christmas Trees are easy to make, especially for kids. If you are like me, you probably have “leftovers” from past craft projects around the house collecting dust. This is a great time to scrape together and make a cute holiday ornament. You can display this DIY Christmas ornament around the house or as a gift for family and friends.
What You’ll Need For DIY Chrismas Tree:
- Green Project foam (and a bit of yellow for the star)
- Glitter (who doesn’t have glitter lying around somewhere)
- A thin wooden skewer
- Spray adhesive
- Craft Scissors
How to make a DIY Christmas Tree Ornament
- Cut the green foam into squares, gradually diminishing sizes. I recommend starting the squares at 3″ x3″ and going down in size by a quarter inch every two squares.
- You’ll then skewer your foam squares, starting from largest to smallest. Finally, twist slightly to create the full tree effect.
- Leave a quarter inch at the point of the skewer and approximately 3 inches at the bottom. Next, cut out a yellow foam into two small triangles, gluing it to the top end of your skewer for the star.
- Next, you’ll go into a well-ventilated area (preferably outside or in a garage, as this can be messy). Then, coat your foam tree with spray adhesive.
- Sprinkle the tree generously with glitter. Let it dry. You’ll now have a lovely foam DIY Christmas tree suitable for displaying or as a gift for loved ones.

- Next, You’ll quarter-fill each glass jar with clear pebbles and maneuver the 3-inch end of your tree into the gravel. Finally, the bottom of your tree should be resting on the top of the glass bowl.
