Virtual Travel With Little Passports

If you have read my blog before you probably know that I am committed to raising my children to be global citizens.  What does this mean anyway?  And why is it important to me?  Raising global citizens means exposing your children to other cultures, other ways of thinking, other languages, etc. By learning about other people, their cultures and beliefs children develop an understanding and a love for the world.

Although I would love to be able to travel the world with them that is not really something we can do right now but there are lots of ways to travel to other countries and learn about the world virtually and that is where Little Passports comes along.

At home we already try to bring as much of our Latino culture and heritage into our lives but along with it I also try to introduce them to other cultures.  They love to hear about our home country Guatemala and learn about it and when I travel for work I always send them a postcard of the places I visit and they just love getting my postcards in the mail so I knew that they would just love Little Passports.

Little Passports is quite a unique concept. Children receive a package every month that contains information about a different destination along with postcards and travel souvenirs from their new traveling pen pals Sam and Sofia.

Little Passports is a great tool to help your children learn more about their world and about their own country too.  Sign up for one or both of our subscriptions and follow Sam and Sofia on their exciting adventures around the USA and the world. This is a fun way to inspire a love and understanding of different cultures as your child learns about geography, history, culture, and language in entertaining and memorable way.

I did not tell my children about Little Passports so when they received a package in the mail with their names on it they where so surprised. They where both super excited to open it and discover the Explorer Kit which included a letter from Little Passports globetrotting characters Sam and Sofia along with a world map, a travel passport, stickers, activity sheets and access to online games and activities. We also got one of the monthly packages; each one of these contains information from a different destination.  On this occasion we got a letter from Sam and Sofia telling us all about Argentina and both of my children where excited to learn more about another country where Spanish is spoken.  The kit also included a little pin sticker that you can place on the world map to mark every destination that you learn about.  My daughter could not stop talking about all the places she wanted to learn about and eventually visit.  I do not know where she gets this from. 😉  Who knew wanderlust could be inherited.

Little Passports has two subscription options:

We are thinking of getting both as it would also be very interesting to learn about other states in the US.  Which subscription would you get?
