How Do You Like To Give Back? – Take the Good Scout Survey

Tracking PixelDisclosure: This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Good Scout. I believe in giving back to my community. Ever since I was a girl I can remember my father, who has always been a member of the Rotary Club, organizing fundraising events and helping communities in need in my home country, Guatemala.

After I had children and moved to the United States giving back suddenly acquired a whole new meaning.  This happened in great part because I received help from people and organizations. One person in particular changed my life by helping me through one of the hardest times in my life. My daughter had just been diagnosed with Autism and I did not know where to go or what to do, this perfect stranger took the time to help me navigate the complicated mesh of services and provided support in a time of need.  She not only helped me but gave me purpose and direction. I wanted to help other families who where going through the same things I was. I started volunteering my time to different organizations; I became a wish granted for Make a Wish Foundation, started advocating for Latino parents of special needs children and become a part of different non-profit organizations.  For me volunteering my time is not only more meaningful than supporting a cause economically but it also lets me get involved in a more personal level. I can directly see the changes I am making and the positive impact I am having on a persona’s life and in my community when I volunteer my time and get involved. For a while my family was struggling economically which meant that I could not support the causes that I was passionate about by making monetary donations, but there are so many other ways to help so we have always donated time, expertise, things that we are no longer using, etc. For me giving money to an organization at the cash register feels impersonal unless I am very familiar with that organization. I like to research the organizations and make sure that they are giving back directly to the people who need it.  I specially like to support grassroots organizations that work at a more personal level and that many times are local. About Good Scout Good Scout Group is a social good consultancy that is helping brands to give back in a way that is more impactful and sustainable. Year after year more and more people are giving back and are giving more in many different ways either through an event, through mail or by giving your time and volunteering.  Good scout wants to find out how people prefer to give, how often they give and what is their motivation when they decide to give. [important] I encourage you to take Good Scout’s survey here: http://bit.ly/1j9V9Gx as well as sign up to participate in Good Scout’s focus group on donor experience (you will find more information about this on the survey link I just shared). 1.
