I was provided with a copy of El Loro Tico Tango published from Barefoot Books, a fun and colorful children’s book in Spanish, so that I could provide a review. However all opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.

El El Loro Tico Tango is a mischivious parrot that does now want to share. He takes the fruit from all of the other animals in the jungle but in the end learns a valuable lesson about sharing and friendship.

Anna Witte’s fun and entertaining story is written in a repetitive rhyming verse that flows almost like a tune and makes this book so much fun to read and to listen to. The beautiful bright colored illustrations just pop-out of the pages and transport you right into the lush tropical forest where Tico Tango and his animal friends live.

This book was not translated from English but was originally written in Spanish so that the rhymes and verses flow with a perfect cadence making this book ideal for small children as well as beginning Spanish readers of any age. Besides transmitting an important message about sharing and asking others for what you want instead of just taking it this book also teaches children colors and fruits.

El Loro Tico Tango

El Loro Tico Tango is set in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, where I grew up reminding me of home and letting me share with my children a little part of who I am and where I come from.  Both of my children just love El Loro Tico Tango  and it is one of our favorite books in Spanish. Anna Witte really did a super job with the story, the writing and the wonderful illustrations.

You can learn more about El Loro Tico Tango which is also available in English on the Barefoot Books website.   You can also like the Barefoot Books page on Facebook and follow them on twitter @BarefootBooks to lear more about their wonderful children’s books and CDs in both English and Spanish.

  1. We love Barefoot Books. I’d love to win this for my kids. Although Spanish is not our first language, I do speak to my kids in my native tongue, which is very similar to Spanish. We also have in-laws who are native Spanish speakers and hopefully can encourage my kids to learn the language.

  3. Barefoot Books was started by two moms that wanted great educational material for their kids that were imaginative and tied closely to family and community. They do a lot of additional activities they include with their books. They are fantastic!
