You will find that this is a great craft to do for older kids. Pin the cardboard skull to your felt. Cut your felt carefully around the cardboard skull. You will need two for each felt sugar skull.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using a different color of felt cut out two small ovals for each felt skull. These will serve as the base for the eyes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using a color of felt that contrasts with the base of the eyes, cut out two small hearts for each skull, these will go in the center of the eyes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Sewing your felt sugar skulls<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thread your embroidery needle with thread.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hold the base of the eyes in place with pins and sew them onto the front piece of your felt calaverita using straight stitches.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sew the small felt hearts onto the eyes with a X stitch.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make the mouth d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">raw it lightly in pencil to stitch over. S<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tart by threading your needle from the back of the face and then proceed to make several horizontal stitches. Add a few vertical stitches to finish forming the mouth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now it\u2019s time to add the decoration to your felt skulls. Using your embroidery needle to embroider the nose, this can be in the shape of an upside down heart or if you want to make it simpler it can also be in the shape of a triangle.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the nose, add some decoration on the skull&#8217;s forehead and the temples. You can draw them first in pencil to stitch over.
