Fall is just around the corner and families are getting ready to transition for kids going back to school. Whether your kids are going to a brick and mortar school, homeschooling or doing virtual school like mine, going back to school is always intimidating. There are new kids, new teachers and in my daughter’s case a new school.
Ideas to Get Kids Motivated About the New School Year
There are simple things you can do to get kids motivated for the new school year. I have come up with some easy ideas for things you can do to get kids excited to go back to school and make this transition easier.
Let your kids choose their school supplies. Back to school shopping can be lots of fun when you let your kids take the lead. From picking their own backpack to choosing notebooks, lunch boxes back to school shopping can be a fun activity you do together!
Get them new pens. When I was in college studying architecture every time I felt stuck and needed to jump start my creativity I would go out and buy a new pen. There’s just nothing quite like writing or drawing with a good pen!
To get us all ready for the back to school season I got FriXion Clicker Erasable Gel Pens, the G2 Fine 20pk Assorted pens including NEW Neon colors and G2 Black pens all of them by Pilot Pen. We have always trusted the great quality and precision of Pilot Pen products.
The G2 pens from Pilot Pen are my favorite black pen. They have smooth writing gel ink that is perfect for writing, lettering and bullet journaling. And I love that G2 supports the local community with a $100,000 G2 Overachievers Grant and a $15,000 G2 Overachievers Student Grant.
The FriXion Clicker Erasable Gel Pens are fantastic for bullet journaling and taking notes. FriXion pens combine the ease of a retractable pen with erasable thermo-sensitive gel ink.
I love the bright colors and how smooth they write. It’s great that you can write without fear and get more creative because you can erase and rewrite as many times as you want.
I got all of these Pilot Pen products at my neighborhood Walmart, along with most of the kid’s school supplies. Click the image below to add the products directly to your shopping cart.
Decorate their school notebooks and journals together. Growing up I always looked forward to decorating my notebooks with my mom and this is a tradition I am carrying on with my kids. This year we’re decorating the notebooks with colorful and fun handwritten motivational quotes.
Have conversations about their expectations as well as yours. As the school year starts I want to make sure that I don’t put too much pressure on my kids while still letting them know about my expectations. But above all, I ask questions and listen to what they are excited about as well as their concerns. We discuss anything that we consider could be a challenge and try to find possible solutions together.
Teach them to get organized in a fun way. I love bullet journaling and since my kids are now a bit older I am sharing the joy of bullet journaling with them. We are creating colorful schedules as well as setting goals and writing them down in their journal.
Boost their self-esteem. Every year before school starts we have conversations about the importance of learning and how education will open doors for you. Reminding my kids that learning can be fun and that is can be used as a tool to fulfill their dreams gets them excited about going back to school.
