Water is necessary to maintain life and most of us take it for granted, we open the tap or pour ourselves a glass water right from our refrigerator but have you ever stopped to think about what it would be like if you did not have access to safe drinking water? This is the reality for so many families.
One in seven people in Peru don’t have access to safe water and Clorox , though their Safe Water Project is helping to bring safe water for people in Peru. Coming from a country like Guatemala where, similarly to Peru, there are so many families that do not have access to safe water, I truly feel passionately about supporting Clorox on their mission.
[important]We can all help! Every time you tweet #ProyectoAguaSegura Clorox will make a $1 donation, up to $20,000, to bring safe drinking water to kids in Peru.[/important]
Additionally you can help by saving water at home and teaching your kids about the importance of saving water and how they can help make a huge difference by taking simple steps and changing things they do every day.
5 Ways In Which Kids Can Help To Save Water
- Use reusable water bottles instead of plastic bottles, not only will you save water by refilling the water bottle and not having to wash a glass but you will also save water by not using plastic bottles. A large amount of water is used to make a plastic bottle!
- Teach kids to turn off the faucet while they are bruising their teeth and washing their hands.
- Have kids reuse water that has been used for cooking pasta, washing or cooking vegetables or boiling eggs. Once the water has cooled off they can use it to water the plants in the house or in the yard instead of throwing the water down the drain.
- Take a shower instead of a bath as showers waste less water than baths.
- Don’t rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, scrape them clean instead and don’t turn on the dishwasher until it’s full.
About the Safe Water Project
During the next three years, the Safe Water Project powered by Clorox will help bring 400,000 liters of safe drinking water each day to more than 25,000 individuals in Peru. The Project will help install public bleach dispensers by community water sources to help treat and disinfect water, as well as provide health and hygiene education.
The project’s innovative bleach dispenser model provides a simple, affordable water treatment solution for use in poor areas where people collect water from an untreated, communal water source.
Dispensers are filled with a diluted bleach solution that releases a metered dose appropriate for a standard water-collection vessel.
Clorox bleach is a powerful and safe way to treat drinking water, killing over 99% of bacteria and viruses commonly found in untreated water.

what a wonderful initiative sometimes we take for granted what we have this is a great opportunity to make the difference
Excellent initiative and very helpful advices, I’ll be sure to teach my kid these! Thanks
We take for granted water. I think is such a great campaing
Me uno a esta causa, y gracias por los tips para cuidar el agua!
Great tips to save water. Here in Los Angeles the water is scarce and we have to learn to save water now in order to assure that we will have some in the future. They government is even paying the citizens if they decide to remove their lawn and plant a California-friendly landscaping that will not need that much water (desert type-plants that naturally survive with a low supply of water). Great initiative to save lives and keep Peruvians healthy.
Pense que ya habia terminado esta campaña, excelente iniciativa para las zonas pobres de mi querido Perú! Muchas gracias por la información, ya lo estoy compartiendo en twitter. Saludos y
