As we leave summer behind and welcome fall I am really excited to see some cooler weather. Since I live in Florida I don’t really get to enjoy the beautiful fall colors but I do take advantage of the fall flavors, specially pumpkin. During fall I love to add some sweet pumpkin flavor to many of my foods from pancakes to drinks. I had not realized though, that the easiest way to add some delicious pumpkin to your favorite foods is by mixing in some pumpkin butter rather than just pumpkin puree.
So this fall I decided to make my own pumpkin butter and I was so impressed by how easy and delicious it came out that I wanted to share it with you.
Easy Homemade Pumpkin Butter
- 1 15 oz can pumpkin puree
- 1/3 brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 cup apple juice
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1½ tsp pumpkin spice
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- pinch of sea salt
Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan stirring until well combined.
Heat them over medium-high until the mixture boils.
Reduce heat to a simmer.
Cook uncovered for 15-20 minutes stirring the mixture every few minutes until it reaches the desired thickness.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Transfer to a mason jar.
This homemade pumpkin butter recipe is easy and quick. You can double up the recipe and refrigerate it to use on all of your pumpkin baking recipes. A mason jar with delicious homemade pumpkin butter also makes for a great hostess gift.
This week I have already used the pumpkin butter to make pumpkin waffles and a delicious pumpkin frapuccino. What is your favorite pumpkin flavored food?
