This is the first year I attend the Hispana Leadership Summit in Miami. Hosted by Poder Hispanic and Vanidades Magazine, the Hispana Leadership Summit 2012 brought powerful Latina business women from across the country together to inspire, motivate and educate one another at the beautiful Turnberry Isle Resort in Miami.
I was extremely excited to have been one of the 3 lucky blogueras, along wit Liliana Gonzalez and my friend Bohemian Babushka to win an all access pass to HLS thanks to Latina Mom Bloggers but I really did not know what to expect from the event. I was only able to attend the sessions all day on Friday and I have to say it was quite an intense day spent learning, making new connections and sharing with great friends. I was truly inspired by all of these feisty and fearless Latinas, their success stories and their positive energy.
The day started with OMG! What Language are You Speaking? A Cross Generation Conversation with Loren Rosario-Maldonado as the speaker and the great panelists Irma Elder, Ivonne Fernandez, Marie D. Quintero-Johnson, Natalie Boden. While we where treated to a delicious breakfast we learned about the differences between generations, what motivates them, their different working styles and how understanding those differences can really improve communication and relationships inside and outside your company or business. This was followed by the Gallup StrengthsFinder® 2.0 Workshop where Dr. Colleen Ramos started by inspiring us with her personal story and how she went back to school in her 30s to get her PhD after being a high school dropout. She shared with us the importance of understanding and leveraging your strengths.
In the Leadership: What’s Your Style? session a group of panelists that included exemplified how each one of them has succeeded and seen their visions come to life while using their own style and personality to become leaders and role models.
The luncheon keynote speaker Pegine Echaverria rocked the house with her Be Feisty, Fearless, Focused and Fun Latina Leader session where she reminded us about the importance of nurturing the power within ourselves, to visualize our dreams and remain focus and most importantly she reminded us that the strength we need to succeed can be found within ourselves.
A touching session by Susan G. Komen®: Lazos que Perduran™ did not leave a dry eye in the room as we were inspired by the stories of survival and empowered to become more aware of breast cancer and about the importance of taking control of our own health and being smart and proactive in taking care of ourselves.
After the sessions ended we where treated to cocktails and orderves while we had the opportunity to connect, network and get even more hermosas at the make up bar before the White Affair’ & Latinas of Excellence Awards dinner.
La The night ended with this amazing and beautiful group of empowered, motivated and successful Latinas dancing the night away and showing off their gorgeous white dresses accessorized with the beautiful pink pashminas from Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Today I go back home truly empowered, motivated and filled with the amazing positive energy I got from all of my wonderful Latina hermanas. Thank you Hispana Leadership Summit and thank you Latina Mom Bloggers for giving me the opportunity to recharge my batteries and rekindle my passion for making a difference and changing the world.
