At home we are always trying to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in our diets, specially when it comes to the kids. I have to admit that none of us eat enough veggies and fruits so when I prepare meals at home one of my I always try to sneak those veggies or fruits in or make a fun recipe that I know that everyone will love. One of our solutions is having a day every week when we all cook or prepare a dish together as a family. For this week’s recipe I got inspired by the crunchy and delicious M&M’s® Crispy.
Our little man is a big chocolate lover so we decided to make some tropical fruit kabobs with chocolate and M&M’s® Crispy. These are not only fun to eat but super easy to make and we all had a good time preparing these together. For these kabobs we all chose our favorite fruit to include so that there was something we all liked and the kids helped with inserting the fruit into the skewers, pouring the chocolate and adding the crunchy M&M’s® Crispys.
Tropical Fruit Kabobs With M&M's® Crispy

- 1 cup of cantaloupes or other tropical fruit cut in small pieces
First cut the M&M's® Crispy in half make sure the pieces are not too big
Insert the fruits in a wooden skewer.
Melt the chocolate make according to the instructions in the package.
Put the skewer on a bowl or pyrex, resting the wooden ends of the skewer on the edges of the bowl.
Drizzle the melted chocolate over the fruit.
Add the pieces of M&M's® Crispy.
Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes or until chocolate is completely hardened.
Of coarse these where a huge success and we all devoured them. They where not only delicious but they also are colorful and fun and I think they would make the perfect party food because they taste and look like they need to accompany some sort of celebration. On this occasion we where celebrating spending some quality time in the kitchen together as a family.
I am already a big fan of M&M’s® , I had never tried the M&M’s® Crispy but I just love the crunchy texture and the fact that they have less calories than the regular M&M’s® ! For this recipe the they really added a lot of depth and flavor and fun!
I found the M&M’s® Crispy at Walmart, and to make this recipe I got the big bag in the candy/baking aisle but you can also grab a small bag near the checkout isle. You can see more great M&M’s® Crispy recipes and party ideas on the M&M’s® Crispy social hub.
