This summer we have a jammed pack traveling agenda and we started our summer adventures with a road trip to the Florida Keys.  Everyone in my family loves animals so we made it a point to fill our trip with experiences that let us get up close and personal with all sorts of critters.

First we visited the Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center in Tavernier. Here we got to see so many different bird species that had been rescued and got to meet so pretty friendly. We where so eager to start our summer adventures that we picked the kids up from their last day of school and headed to the islands, you can see my little man is still wearing his school uniform!

Then we headed to Theater of the Sea in Islamorada where we spend all day among the luscious orchid gardens shaking flippers with sea lions, watching a dolphin show and swimming and feeding colorful parrot fish.

This was one of those trips that you know the kids will never forget. The highlight of the trip for my daughter was swimming with dolphins at Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key while my son got to realize his dream of swimming with sharks at the Theater of The Sea!

They were nurse sharks and completely safe to swim with, basically just friendly big fish but he was so excited and when he got out of the water he happily declared: “This has been the best day of my life!”.

This is what vacation is all about! And not only did we make amazing memories but the kids, and us, learned so much about the the flora and fauna of the Florida Keys and these lessons and experiences have brought a renewed and deeper appreciation of the environment and our part in taking care of it.

We spent 4 days outside, most of the time in the water snorkeling and swimming with fish, dolphins or sharks and all that time under the hot Florida sun. During these memorable moments the last thing I want is to be worrying about is sun protection and that is why we always carried a bottle of Banana Boat ® KIDS MAX Protect & Play Clear Mist Spray. This sunscreen provides UVA and UVB protection, goes on easy and is water resistant for up to 80 minutes!

As all moms know, planning ahead is key! This definitely applies with sunscreen. Before heading to your family outing, consider how long you will be outside and how many times everyone will need to reapply – remember to bring sunscreen for ALL outdoor activities, hikes, bike rides, swimming or even just a meal out in the backyard.

When we shop for sun protection we always choose Banana Boat® products, it’s a brand we trust and we love the wide array of options and different SPF levels. Our favorite ones are the Banana Boat ® KIDS sprays that go on easy and are water and sweat resistant, but the best part: they are not sticky or greasy like other brands so that the sand brushes right off. I love that Banana Boat® sun care products are tested in seven conditions – sun, pool water, ocean water, wind, sweat, sand and extreme heat – to provide safe and effective broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection for the entire family. You can find Banana Boat® at your local Walmart, all you need to do is follow the signs of summer for continuous sun protection.
