Summer is here and with it family road trips. As my kids get older I sometimes struggle with finding ways to keep them happy and entertained in the car. Both of my kids love road games and we prefer them playing and interacting with each other than having them hypnotized by electronic games or movies. Because we live in Florida and most of our road trips are local I created two fun Florida road trip games which where a total hit!
I got inspiration from the traditional checkers game to created a Florida Checkers version with flamingos and alligators instead of red and black chips. Then I created a Florida scavenger hunt which you can download HERE. This kept them interested on looking for palm trees, cows and alligators and sparked a lot of fun conversations about our state.
Road trips can be really fun but you have to make sure that you prepare for them. We usually get an early start which means that the kids usually have to have breakfast on the go. Making my kids eat breakfast at home is already hard enough but getting them to eat in the car can be a real challenge. That is why I was so excited to find the belVita Breakfast Sandwiches and Honey Maid Dippers as they have become a fun and delicious part of our breakfast on the go.
We all love the belVita Breakfast Sandwiches. The belVita Breakfast Sandwiches have just a hint of sweetness and in the middle a smooth creamy layer of Peanut Butterare making it this a deliciously wholesome breakfast sandwich and the prefect breakfast for you, treats for them solution. Honey Maid Dippers are the perfect size for dipping on the go. You can dip them in yogurt, chocolate, Nutella or peanut butter, there are so many options! You can get more inspiration for breakfast on the go HERE.
I bought two metal cookie sheets at Walmart. These are great to act as individual breakfast tables for the kids and keep all the food and spills away from the car. Once they are done I just clean them with the wipes we always have in the car and they can use them as a tray for their road trip games.
To make the Florida Checkers you will need:
