Getting to Antigua Guatemala

  • Flying to Antigua: The nearest airport to Antigua is La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. It has flights from many big cities. Once you land, Antigua is just a 45-minute drive away.
  • Transport from the Airport: When you leave the airport, you can choose from taxis, shuttles, or ride-sharing services like Uber to get to Antigua. There’s also the option to rent a car. You’ll find these services right outside the luggage area at the airport. My recommendation is to take a shared shuttle from the airport to Antigua, it’s affordable and safe.
  • Local Bus Option: For a more local and cheaper way, you can take a bus from Guatemala City to Antigua. It’s slower and less comfortable, but it’s more affordable. However, this is best if you’re adventurous, know basic Spanish, and are used to public buses in Latin America. Be careful with your belongings on the bus, as pickpocketing is not uncommon.
