Give your hamburgers a fresh twist with this easy to make spicy pomegranate and avocado salsa.
Football playoff season is the perfect time to host a football watching party. When it comes to hosting a football party you want to stick to the classic homegating foods that everyone enjoys but giving them a new and interesting twist. You don’t want to go to fancy on your food or make this a sit down dinner, football party food has to be easy to eat while sitting on the couch and quick and easy to prepare so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time watching the game.
This past weekend we got together with a few friends to watch the game. Picking the party food was a no brainer, I knew hamburgers and wings would make everyone happy and I always have Tyson® Boneless Wyngz and Ball Park® Flame Grilled Patties in my freezer.
I wanted to make something different so I whipped up a spicy sweet and savory fruit salsa to add to the hamburgers. This spicy pomegranate and avocado salsa took just minutes to prepare and I served alongside the hamburgers so people could add it to their burger, eat on the side or scoop it up with chips.
Hamburgers With Spicy Pomegranate And Avocado Salsa
- 6 Ball Park Flame Grilled Patties
- 6 hamburger buns
- 1 cup pomegranate arils
- 1 can of mandarin oranges drained
- 2 Hass avocados cut into cubes
- Juice from 1 lime
- 2 jalapeño peppers seeded and membranes removed, finely diced
- ½ red onion finely diced
- 2 tablespoons of finely chopped cilantro
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
Fold together carefully until well combined making sure not to smash the avocado.
Toast the hamburger buns in the oven.
Heat the patties in the microwave.
Place the hamburger patties on the bun and top with the spicy pomegranate and avocado salsa.
The recipe was a success, everyone loved this fresh and spicy burger and people had a hard time believing that the hamburger patties came from the freezer and not directly from the grill, score!
