Easy Day of the Dead Party Ideas, Food and Crafts

Dia de los Muertos Day of the Dead party ideas If you have been reading my posts you know that we are just going all out with our Dia de los Muertos celebration this year.  My kids are loving it and we have been doing lots of fun Day of the Dead crafts and activities.   On November 1st we will eating the traditional fiambre and molletes but we also wanted to have a fun celebration that was more kid friendly so we had a little Día de los Muertos party at home and I wanted to share with you some of the things we made in case that you might be considering making your own Day of the Dead themed party.  These ideas would also be perfect for a Halloween party!

Día de los Muertos Party Food

The theme for most of the food for the party was of course skulls.  We made skull pizza which was loads of fun and you can get the recipe and more pictures of the skull pizzas HERE.  I also made some skull white chocolate covered strawberries and of coarse cupcakes. You can see how I made the white chocolate covered strawberry skulls HERE.

For the cupcakes I used some fun colored skull cupcake liners, these where supposed to be Halloween themed but the bright and cheerful colors just made these perfect for a Day of the Dead celebration.  I added some flowers and printed fun skull cake toppers.  Dia de los Muertos Day of the Dead cupcakes

Día de los Muertos Party Decorations

We used a black tablecloth and for the the decorations and food we used a lot of black and white combined with lots of fun colors to give it that a festive feeling.  We used the painted skull crafts and the mask craft we had made a few days ago and added some silk flowers to the table.  I needed something for the walls,  at first I was thinking of decorating with some papel picado but when my children asked for balloons I thought that was the perfect idea and after all it really doesn’t feel like a party unless there are balloons.

We bought some white balloons and added some intricate skull designs using a black permanent market. These where so simple to make and they looked great!  The best part was how easy and affordable these where and it only took a few minutes to make them.
